What is a the difference between FDX-A, FDX-B and HDX microchips?
FDX means full duplex and HDX means half duplex. These terms refer to how the chip is read. FDX-A (old technology) microchips operate on a 125 kHz frequency. FDX-B and HDX (ISO) microchips operate on a 134.2 kHz frequency.

Do animal care facilities have readers?
Not all animal care facilities have microchip readers and some that do, do not use them. Call your local animal care facility to be sure that they have and use an ISO iMAX Black Label chip reader. If your local facility needs a reader, refer them to Bayer HealthCare, Animal Health Division to find out how they can obtain one.

Can all readers read any microchip?
No. Some manufacturers choose to read only their private technology and disregard any other technology and even go as far as to encrypt the identification code to prevent other readers from obtaining the code. The ISO standard requires readers to be backwards and forwards compatible to read all microchip technologies. The iMAX Black Label is the only reader on the market that can read detect all microchips.
